Food For The Body and Soul
Here at LYDIA Home, we provide care for our residential children in all aspects of their daily lives. One simple yet essential part of the child’s routine is mealtime. Our staff prepares and serves 50,000 meals each year to the children who live at LYDIA Home. It is an enormous task, but it is crucial in the course of each child’s development and overall well-being.
How You Can Serve
We are looking for volunteers to come alongside us and help serve our children through preparing dinners every week. This is an opportunity for our children to connect and create healthy adult relationships outside of their normal routines. Not only do we want to provide food for our children’s bodies, we also want to nourish their souls through meaningful interactions at mealtimes. In addition, it is a wonderful chance for you to see what life is like at LYDIA Home by sharing a meal with our children. As a volunteer, you would prepare, serve, and partake in the meal as well as assist our staff in any clean-up. We encourage you to stay and enjoy the meal with our kids, or even bring an age-appropriate activity to share. We especially encourage families and small groups to volunteer in this way.
