For 100 years, LYDIA Home Association has been strengthening families to care for children and caring for children when families cannot. What began as a small group of individuals humbly trying to meet the most basic clothing needs of children living in an orphanage, has grown into a worldwide organization where children can find comfort and rest while seeking healing and freedom from the traumas of their past.

LYDIA is based in the Northwest side of Chicago and serves those at-risk by providing a continuum of services with the aim of improving children’s lives and restoring families.

Safe Families for Children is a subsidiary of Lydia Home Association. Since 2003, Safe Families for Children has offered sanctuary to thousands of children of families in crisis, minimizing the risk for abuse and neglect and giving parents the time and tools they need to help their families thrive. Their ultimate goal is to strengthen and support parents so they can become safe families for their own children. This is accomplished through a community of devoted volunteers motivated by compassion to keep children safe and out of foster care.
