Home · News · LYDIA ACTS General Our goal is to always be increasing awareness about LYDIA’s mission and needs, in the hope to be able to impact more and more lives across the city of Chicago and in other areas. For this to happen with our limited resources (financial and staff), we could really use your help. That’s why we came up with something we call LYDIA ACTS: Welcoming A Chance to Serve.

This concept is based off of the passage in Acts 16:13-15. LYDIA’s history and mission is all about making our homes places of refuge and ministry for others. Since this is the case, we believe that it makes perfect sense to have part of our “awareness tactic” to be based out of homes as well…uniting our past with our present. So here’s what this would require from you:

• Investment of time (can be determined somewhat by you): 3-4 hours
  • Time spent inviting people and setting up for party
  • 1.5 hours spent on actual party
  • 30 minutes for a debriefing session with LYDIA staff member
• Goals for party: create awareness of LYDIA Home Association; give action steps to guests for their involvement
• Number of people to invite: 10-15
• Location: In your home or the home of someone else that might work better
• Hosting ideas: Bible study + LYDIA pres. (30 minute), BBQ + LYDIA pres. (30 minute), a “Give Back Night” + LYDIA pres. (30 minute)…These are just ideas. You can be as creative or simple as you want. You know the people you’re inviting and the ways to get them interested in attending. Perhaps you just want time to fellowship together or perhaps you want it to be more “goal-oriented” than that. You can make that decision.

We’ll give you the supplies for both you and your guests and we will also send a LYDIA staff member to share about the organization at your party. All we need from you is your willingness to invite, host and present.

Chicago is a big city. It’s hard to reach everyone to share who we are and what we do at LYDIA. That’s why we need you.
